We want to hear what you think about online peer support. Elefriends is run by Mind. It is an online peer support community where you can listen, share and be heard. As part of Mind’s peer support programme the Elefriends team at Mind want to chat to people at local Minds about peer support online and how this links up to local support.

    Who are we looking for?
The team are looking for people who have lived experience of mental health problems to take part in a workshop where they will give their thoughts and opinions about using online peer support.

What will you need me to do?
If you are selected, you will attend a workshop in Northampton, Thursday 13th August from 1-4pm.

After settling in over a cup of tea or coffee, we will introduce the workshop activities – these are designed to get everyone thinking creatively about online peer support and how it can link up with local support. We’ll also have a think about the barriers that people face when trying to access support online.

There’ll be a chance to share ideas and give your feedback on some of our suggestions. The activities will be very informal and although we want to hear from everyone who comes along, you won’t have to present to the group or talk about your own experiences if you don’t want to.

You don’t have to be a member of Elefriends. We want a mixture of elefriends and non elefriends there. If you are not a member of Elefriends we might ask you to sign up and have a look at the site beforehand.

    Payment and expenses
As a thank you for coming along and sharing your expertise and experience, we will pay each person who attends £50. This will be via bank transfer. We will also reimburse travel expenses up to £20

How do I register my interest?
Please visit SurveyMonkey to register your interest.

Places are limited, so unfortunately we may not be able to offer a workshop place to everyone who registers.

Come and join us for our Launch event and find out more!
    Wednesday, 20th May – Kettering 12-2pm
Peer Support is getting support from people who are equal to you – your peers.

In a peer group you are able to talk to other people who truly have first hand experience of similar situations. You may also identify with your peers according to shared interests, issues, life experiences or personal attributes.

The Local Minds in Northamptonshire have been funded by Mind and the Big Lottery to deliver support about peer activity as part of their aim that everyone should have access to good quality peer support wherever they live. We are supporting this aim by promoting best practice for groups and sharing experiences from our peers.

If you would like to find out more about how you can get involved or would like to know more about starting your own group please join us for our launch event in Kettering, for more information please book your free place. Click here to book
